500,000 To help finance the second phase of an agricultural research scheme conducted by the ICBA and ICRISAT, in partnership with the National Agricultural Research Systems of beneficiary countries. Phase II aims at improving the livelihoods of farmers in salinity affected environments by developing high yielding, salt-tolerant sorghum and pearl millet. 04.12.2007
300,000 To co-finance a South-South Global Assets and Technology Exchange System (GATE), a program created by the United Nations Development Program. The initiative aims at providing a sustainable South-South transaction platform that facilitates the transparent exchange of technology, assets, services and financial resources. 04.12.2007
300,000 To support a project developed by the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture to rehabilitate the Tam Bardoute irrigation scheme in Guelmim, Morocco. The scheme will help increase agricultural production and boost farmers’ incomes. At least 1,900 families are expected to benefit from the initiative. 04.12.2007
750,000 To support an initiative of the FAO - the Special Program for Food Security and Food Safety - to assist small-scale farmers in Cambodia, Haiti and Sierra Leone to increase producticity by using low-cost technologies. 28.08.2007

300,000 To help finance an International Atomic Energy scheme to purchase radiotherapy equipment for the University Teaching Hospital in Montevideo, Uruguay. 50,000 This grant will help finance an initiative of the Serra Matto Organization in the Sudan, which aims at upgrading medical services among Nubian communities in the Sudanese Kasala State, with particular emphasis on providing health care to women and children. 50,000 This grant was extended to the InterAction Council of Former Heads of State and Government to support the production of a 12-volume series: The World Agenda: Studies of the InterAction Council 1982-2007. The books will comprise papers contributed by world renown economists, philosophers and specialists in international relations 05.11.2007
100,000 This grant helped finance the attendance of 16 participants from least-developed countries to attend an IDLO-sponsored seminar entitled Economic Empowerment of Women, which was held in Rome, Italy from September 10 – 21, 2007. The event featured experts from a range of internationals organizations who addressed key issues including: access to basic social resources, women’s health issues, women’s security, access to professional equality, a voice in governance, microfinance and women’s entrepreneurialism.

50,000 This grant will support the production of a report, Arab Environment: Future Challenges, which will be prepared by The Arab Forum for Environment and Development. 50,000 To help finance a Capacity Building Program to Support South-South Cooperation, of the Rome Chapter of the G-77. Grants: Special Grant Account for Palestine

2.5 million To help finance a project aimed improving the quality of education in Palestine by introducing new-curriculum textbooks. Some 9.4 million books for grades 1-12 will be printed and distributed among Palestinian schools, benefiting at least one million pupils. 14.06.2007
1.5 million To sponsor a population census that will be carried out by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, along with assistance of the United Nations Population Fund. The census will cover the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip. 13.03.2007
